My story
Originally from Northern Ireland and now living in beautiful Somerset. I started out playing the clarinet in school as a ‘means of avoiding class’ but soon developed a true and enduring passion for music.
Transitioning over to the Alto sax (because it looked much cooler than the clarinet…) I played with various youth and university bands including: the Swansea University swing band ‘Sync or Swing’ and the Southampton University Wind Band.
During my time at Swansea University, I founded a student jazz-funk band called ‘Tattoo Groove’, winning the university ‘Battle of the Bands’ in 1996 and played alongside major UK and international bands ‘back in the day’ including: ‘The Lightening Seeds’ and ‘The Polyphonic Spree’, among others.
Over the years, I’ve continued to enjoy playing jazz, blues & funk music, forming the Kent-based 5-piece Blue Note band ‘Mister Magic’ gigging in venues around the South East and a regular playing together with Kent-based pianist Roger Lewin at the 144 Jazz Club in Rochester.
Following a 5 year adventure living and working in Montreux, Switzerland I’m now back in the UK, living in beautiful Somerset and playing Tenor sax with the ‘Shepton Mallet Big Band’, ‘The New Midrod Ends’ 10-piece party band and available to provide highest quality jazz, blues and funk music for any occasion.
Jazz Combos
I’m able to offer myself playing as a solo saxophonist, but if you want a bigger band I can provide any combination of: duo, trio, quartet and quintet by calling on other professional local musicians to provide the highest quality live jazz, blues and funk music. Flexibility is the key and we can adapt our band size and set list to suit almost any event and budget:
